COMPETITIVE FILTER TEST RESULTS

INTRODUCTION

During the month of January 1991, a meeting took place at One Shell Square on the results achieved from the Bay Marchand Field on the Gulf Coast Filter. The result of this meeting was to install another brand of filter to see if the results from this filter would be more beneficial to the equipment.  Also, we wanted to see if this filter could offer better results and still be as cost effective as the Gulf Coast Filter.

The filter selected to be tested was a filter from Competitive Filter Co. The following is a comparative report comparing the competitive filter tested on the Waukesha natural gas engine known as the High Speed Engine on “A” Platform in the Bay Marchand Unit. The results from the competitive filter are compared to the previous results from the Gulf Coast Filter test on the same engine.

All of the facts within this report have been derived from actual lab reports, Hydro/sensor readings, and other information and comments from the Bay Marchand Field.

Listed on the next two pages you will find a yes or no question section and check list that outlines the summary of the results found when comparing the results of the Competitive Filter to the results of the Gulf Coast Filter.

TEST SUMMARY

LISTED BELOW ARE SOME YES OR NO QUESTIONS ON THE COMPETITIVE FILTER AND COMPETITIVE FILTER CO. COMPARED TO THE GCF FILTER AND GULF COAST FILTERS INC.

1.  DID THE COMPETITIVE FILTER ELIMINATE THE ROUTINE OIL DRAINS AS DID THE GULF COAST FILTER ?

2.  DID THE COMPETITIVE FILTER EXTEND THE SERVICE INTERVAL OF THE WAUKESHA FACTORY FILTERS AND SAVE ON THE AMOUNT OF FACTORY FILTERS BEING PURCHASED ?

3.  DID THE COMPETITIVE FILTER SAVE ON THE AMOUNT OF OIL USED TO MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT ?

4.  DID THE COMPETITIVE FILTER ELEMENTS LAST LONGER BETWEEN SERVICE INTERVALS THAN THE GCF FILTER ?

5.  WAS THE COMPETITIVE FILTER EASIER TO SERVICE AND REQUIRE LESS TIME TO SERVICE THAN THE GCF FILTER ?

6.  DID THE COMPETITIVE FILTER PROGRAM SAVE ON MANHOURS OVER THE GULF COAST FILTER PROGRAM ?

7.  DID COMPETITIVE FILTER CO. OFFER AS GOOD OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO S.O.I. PERSONNEL AS DID GULF COAST FILTERS INC. ?

OF THE  OIL  & WEAR  RATES WITHIN  THE  ENGINE,  WHILE USING THE COMPETITIVE FILTER COMPARED TO THE RESULTS WHEN USING THE GULF COAST FILTER. HOW THE COMPETITIVE FILTER PERFORMED COMPARED TO THE GULF COAST FILTER

OIL QUALITY READINGS BY THE HYDRO/SENSOR
In only  3 months  and starting with almost  new oil,  the
competitive filter tested has allowed the dielectric oil quality
readings to climb to concern levels of 4.5 and go off scale.

SERVICE INTERVALS FOR THE COMPETITIVE FILTER

In an effort to hold the Hydro-Sensor readings to the same levels as seen with the GCF Filter, the Competitive Filter was actually serviced more times within the same time frame as the GCF Filter.  The  end  result  of  the  "sweetening"  of  the  oil  and servicing of the Competitive Filter's Element was:

NO CHANGE OF THE OIL QUALITY READINGS AND THE HYDRO/SENSOR READINGS CONTINUED TO CLIMB FROM 4.4 TO MAXIMUM READINGS AND OFF THE SCALE OF THE HYDRO/SENSOR .'!   THE GCF FILTERS WERE THEN RE-INSTALLED AND THE OIL QUALITY READINGS BEGAN TO IMPROVE IMMEDIATELY.
